IAS officer’s case: bizman arrested

October 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:36 am IST - Bengaluru:

The Lokayukta Police have arrested a businessman on Tuesday for “tampering” and “creating” evidence to shield IAS officer Kapil Mohan in a disproportionate assets case.

Jaya Shiva Saxena, whom sources described as being close to the IAS officer, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. A special Lokayukta Court has remanded him in 14 days in judicial custody. According to Lokayukta sources, Mr. Saxena had created documents in an attempt to show that nearly Rs. 4.37 crore found in gunny sacks in a raid on the properties linked to Mr. Mohan belonged to him.

The arrested is even believed to have approached the IT Department to claim the money as his.

“As he is a non-government official, the attempt was to scuttle the disproportionate asset case against the IAS officer,” said a Lokayukta official.

In August, a flat in Yeshvanthpur, which is owned by a private firm linked to Mr. Mohan’s father, was raided by CID and IT officials.
