A 23-year-old security guard was shot dead during Holi celebrations among a group of friends at HSR Layout on Sunday. The victim, Harvinder Singh, is from Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, Singh was working for a private security agency and deployed at the ATM of a private bank. On Sunday, he celebrated Holi with four others at a friends house in Challakere. In the midst of their revelry, one of them shot Singh with his single-barrel gun killing him on the spot, police said.

Neighbours heard the gun shot. They rushed to his friend Jagadish’s house and saw Singh lying in a pool of blood with a wound on his neck. There was no one else in the house. They informed the police who shifted the body to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared Singh brought dead. The police found a gun and a cartridge in the house. They are on the lookout for Singh’s friends.

A senior police officer said, “We are not sure whether his death was accidental or intentional. We will know after questioning the others who partied with Singh.”

The HSR Layout police have summoned the management of the security company to check whether there was any lapse on their part and to check the documents of the weapon.
