An engineering student was robbed of his fees by a group of four, who offered him a drop and made away with the college bag containing the cash on Hebbal flyover on Wednesday. C. Prashanth, a civil engineering student of Sambharam College, was returning home from his native Kolar.

After alighting from the bus on Wednesday at around 9.15 p.m., Prashanth was waiting for a bus to go to his uncle’s house, where he was staying.

A multi-utility vehicle with four persons, including the driver, offered him a lift. When the vehicle reached Hebbal flyover, the trio pounced on Prashanth and tried to snatch his bag. The muggers assaulted him with a wine bottle when he resisted. They later dumped him on the flyover and made away with the backpack containing clothes and cash of Rs 52,000 and his wallet which had Rs 4,000.
