High Court stays proceedings against Siddaiah


The High Court on Friday stayed further proceedings against BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah based on the two First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against him by the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF).

‘Act of vengeance’

Justice Anand Byrareddy passed the interim orders on the petitions filed by Mr. Siddaiah challenging the FIRs claiming that they were the result of vengeance.

It was stated in the FIRs that Mr. Siddaiah had helped a developer to construct a commercial and residential complex on encroached land. However, Mr. Siddaiah has denied such allegations.

On Friday, the State government transferred the two cases booked by the BMTF against Mr. Siddaiah and others to the Lokayukta police. with a direction to complete the investigations at the earliest and submit the report to the court. The government has also directed the BMTF to hand over all relevant documents pertaining to the case to the Lokayukta officials and provided necessary assistance if required.
