Helpline to guide youth

October 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - BENGALURU:

In the background of youth being targeted by radical groups, Khudai Khidmathgar (KK), a movement started by Frontier Gandhi Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, will launch a helpline across the country to guide the youth. The Karnataka Chapter is launching a helpline (9718072586) on October 12.

At a press conference, Faisal Khan, national president of the KK, said the youth were easy target for hatred and they would be misguided in the name of religion. As a social responsibility, the KK want to help them by educating them not to yield to such propaganda. “The initiative is not restricted to one religion. Those who contact our helpline will be directed to individuals/organisations working for secularism, who will remove misconceptions from the mind of youth,” he said.

State convener of the KK Sajid Hussain said the KK had been conducting youth camps, social media forum, inter-faith dialogues at university and colleges across the State. “All the religions preach peace and harmony. Our experts on peace and harmony will guide those who call our helpline. Initially, the helpline will work on weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and extended later,” he said.
