HC sets aside sanction granted for Yeddyurappa’s prosecution

Asks Governor consider the request afresh

In a temporary relief to former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyappa, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday asked the Governor to have a fresh look at the sanction granted for his prosecution in several cases of alleged illegal denotification.

Setting aside the sanction order give by the then Governor, H.R. Bhardhwaj on January 21, 2011, a Division Bench said that the Governor had not properly considered the recommendations made by the then Cabinet against grant of prosecution.

The then Governor had granted sanction on the complaints made by advocate duo Sirajin Basha and Balraj.
