HC notice to BBMP on plea against white-topping

The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday ordered issue of notice to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition seeking a direction not to commence the work on white-topping of South End Road from Madhavan Park to Nettakallappa Circle via Nagasandra Circle.

A Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice L. Narayana Swamy and Justice P.S. Dinesh Kumar passed the order on the petition filed by A.C. Chandrashekar Raju, a resident of Basavanagudi.

The petitioner has claimed that white-topping of roads are being done unscientifically as the BBMP has not evolved any scientific mechanism for laying such roads.

It has been claimed in the petition that this stretch does not require a white-topping.
