Harassed teenager was turned away by police

October 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:31 am IST - BENGALURU:

The teenaged girl, who killed herself after reportedly being humiliated by some youngsters, had lost faith in the police, after her compliant on Sunday night was not accepted at the Chikkajala police station.

She locked herself at home on Monday afternoon and committed suicide. Around 5 p.m., her body was discovered by her family who rushed her to a hospital nearby where she was declared as ‘brought dead.’

Police sources said the victim’s father was picked up by a police team along with a few others, including two women, on Sunday evening following a scuffle. After this, the girl came to the police station and complained that Krishnamurthy and Mohan, sons of the two women, were repeatedly harassing her. However, the police personnel pacified them and the girl was asked to leave.

In the suicide note left behind by the victim, she stated, “On Monday afternoon, as I was returning from school, I was assaulted by Krishnamoorty, Mohan, his mother and a few of their friends. They tore my clothes and photographed me inappropriately and in humiliation, I’m taking this extreme step.”

The teenager also wrote that she had lost faith in the system and felt she wouldn’t get justice.

Following the suicide, police apprehended Krishnamoorty and Mohan on Monday evening and are on the lookout for the rest of the suspects. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Vikas Kumar Vikas has ordered a detailed probe into the matter.
