Tension prevailed for some time outside the Maddurama Temple in Huskur on Sunday when two groups of different communities clashed during Ganesh idol immersion procession.

Gajendra (24), native of Huskur, was allegedly stabbed by one of the members of a community in a drunken brawl and was rushed to Sparsh Hospital, where he is said to be out of danger.

The police have arrested three persons, Bhatti Raja, Ranjeet, Rakesh, and lodged a complaint against 10 others.

The Hebbagodi police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

The incident was reported around 8.30 p.m. after over 15 persons from minority groups allegedly got involved in a drunken brawl, a senior police officer said. “There was a Ganesha procession organised today evening in Huskur. After the procession was over and the people returned to Maddur Temple to offer prayers, a clash broke out between two groups. One person stabbed Gajendra in the abdomen. Soon, a large crowd gathered and an additional force was deployed to bring the situation under control,” the officer added.
