Govt. is controlled by lobbies: BJP

May 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - BENGALURU:

The Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is controlled by “lobbies” in education, iron ore mining, sand extraction, lottery operations and sugar industry, alleged K.S. Eshwarappa, BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council.

The government has succumbed to the education lobby and has hiked the fees for all professional courses from this academic year (2015-16), he alleged at a press conference here on Friday. Despite the government’s claim on taking pro-active steps, illegal sand extraction and iron ore mining was continuing in several parts of the State. The sugar industries had not paid dues to growers, he alleged.

The BJP leader welcomed the government’s decision to hand over the lottery scam to the CBI, but wanted the Chief Minister to make public the interim report of the CID. He claimed it mentioned the involvement of several political leaders and officers.

Mr. Eshwarappa demanded of JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy to reveal the name of the Congress MLC allegedly involved in the lottery racket.
