June 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - Bengaluru:

The Governor has returned the recommendation of the State for initiating action against some members of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and has asked whether the State has powers to prosecute KPSC members.

State Advocate-General Ravivarma Kumar submitted this information to the High Court of Karnataka on Friday during the hearing of a public interest litigation petition which had raised questions about legality of holding exams by the KPSC for the posts of gazetted probationer when some of its members are facing allegation of illegality during the selection process of previous batch.

A Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice B.V. Nagarathna adjourned further hearing on the petition by two weeks following a request made by the Advocate-General.

During previous hearing, the Advocate-General had said that the Chief Minister would have a deliberation with the Governor on initiating action against some KPSC members.
