The family of an 18-year-old girl, whosebody was found hanging from a tree at Dobbespet, near Nelamangala on Sunday, have alleged that she may have been murdered.

Police identified the dead girl as Sindhu, a PU dropout and a resident of Machanahalli near Shivagange.

Sindhu, according to police, was in love with a married man identified as Gangaraju. When her parents got to know about it, they filed a case of rape against Gangaraju and sent her to a relative’s house.

Based on the complaint, police arrested Gangaraju, and he was in judicial custody for four months.

Recently, he was released on bail. Sindhu allegedly met him soon after his release and asked him to marry her, but he refused.

Sindhu went missing from home on Saturday night, and passersby found her hanging from a tree on Sunday.

Her parents allege that Gangaraju may have killed her after she forced him to marry her.

Police are awaiting the post-mortem examination report.
