George takes exception to party leaders airing differences in public

April 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - BENGALURU:

Taking exception to some Congress leaders airing their differences in public, Bengaluru City Development Minister K.J. George appealed to them to raise such issues only at party forums such as Congress Legislature Party and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.

“If they have problems with the leadership, they can sort it out in a party forum,” Mr. George told reporters here on Monday. On senior leaders, including Janardhan Poojary, S.M. Krishna, B.K. Hariprasad, and Adaguru H. Vishwanath speaking against Chief Minister Siddarmaiah, the Minister said “it was their personal opinion”.

Refuting reports that there was discontentment among legislators and senior party leaders, he said that some vested interests were misguiding the media. Mr. George maintained that the party’s general secretary Digvijay Singh, president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi are only authorised to speak on change of leadership in the State.

On alternative sites

Defending the BDA allotting alternative site in return for the land given for building roads in its layouts, Mr. George said alternative sites had been given during the tenure of Jagadish Shettar and D.V. Sadananda Gowda as Chief Ministers, and they was not illegal.
