The south Division police have arrested a gang of five including a 19-year-old woman for robbing a project manager of a construction company in Banashankari on April 21.
The victim, D.B. Chandru, had invited Nikita (19) to his house after his family, including wife and children, had gone to their native for summer vacations.
This opportunity gave Nikita and her associates Kadireshan (21), Charan (22), Uday (25) and Suresh (23) the chance to plan robbing Mr. Chandru.
While Chandru was waiting for Nikita, the accused barged into the house, overpowered him by tying his hands and legs, stuffed his mouth with a cloth to prevent him from raising an alarm.
The accused ransacked the house and made away with two gold chains, rings, cash Rs. 50,000, 100 UK pounds, mobile phone, camera and escaped.
The Banashankari police initially suspected that Mr. Chandru was behind all this as he was trying to avoid police questioning. His mobile call record and details were verified.
The police stumbled upon the mobile number of Nikita who has been involved in other cases of immoral trafficking.
Suspecting her involvement, police picked her up for questioning.
A detailed probe led her to confess to the crime. Based on her information, the police arrested the accused and recovered the valuables.
