In a rare event of sorts, city-based NGO Voice of Stray Dogs (VoSD) has arranged an evening of stand-up comedy this weekend at BFlat in Indiranagar to raise funds for its stray dog management.

Comedians Sanjay Manaktala, Sundeep Rao, Kritarth Sreenivasan and Vamsidhar Bhogaraju will present ‘Barking Mad’ on June 14 at 8 p.m. to support the work of VoSD that has nearly 5,000 rescues to its credit in three years.

The stray dog rescue operations of VoSD include taking at least six injured and abandoned dogs in a day for treatment to the best vet before releasing them. “We need funds to carry on with our voluntary work, as we provide state-of-the-art treatment that includes trauma centre, CRM-based tracking with vet services like MRIs, X-rays, diagnostics, surgery and rehabilitation.

"We have a VoSD Sanctuary on the outskirts of Bengaluru that has nearly 500 abandoned dogs and the maintenance cost of the facility is nearly Rs. 11 lakh every month.

"So we thought a fund-raiser would be of immense help,” says Anjana Navnith, volunteer, VoSD.
