The Cubbon Park police have arrested four persons for furnishing fake documents for medical remuneration as part of the Chief Minister’s relief fund. Hunt is on for one more suspect and an investigation into the scam is under way.
Police sources said that Deshalinga, a computer operator at a private hospital in the city, and his accomplices Raju, Iliyas, and Linge Gowda were arrested on Friday by a special team.
The police have recovered forged documents from the gang.
The probe began on October 16 after the Chief Minister’s Deputy Secretary Somasekhar lodged a complaint with the Cubbon Park police station after scrutiny of documents and verification with the hospital authorities across the State revealed that 14 beneficiaries, who applied for the scheme, were bogus.
A case was registered at the Cubbon Park police station and investigations revealed that the identity cards and hospital receipts were forged and names of persons who didn’t apply for the fund had been used.
The probe led the police to Deshalinga, who had forged the documents using his computer skills. Soon after, Raju, Iliyas and Gowda were arrested from outside Bengaluru. It is suspected that more persons are involved in the scam, sources added.
