Former councillor told not to use caste certificate

February 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

The High Court on Wednesday stayed the order of the Commissioner of Social Welfare, who had quashed the caste certificate issued to former councillor N. Chandra alias Sandil Kumar N, who had claimed that he belongs to a Schedule Caste.

However, the court directed Mr. Chandra not to use his caste certificate until further orders. Justice Ashok B. Hinchigeri passed the interim order on a plea filed by Mr. Chandra questioning the commissioner’s order. One A. Jeyerem had accused Mr. Chandra of falsely claiming to fall in the SC category.
