The Halasuru police have arrested five persons who beat up a 28-year-old online food delivery boy, accusing him of getting the food half hour late in Domlur layout on Saturday.

The victim, Tilak Kumar, with fracture in his fingers, was found unconscious on the road side, and was taken to hospital by a few passers-by. He recovered later and filed a complaint based on which the police arrested the accused identified as Krishna, Appu and three others on Monday.

In his complaint, Tilak Kumar said the accused had ordered the food online around 6.45 p.m. following which Tilak Kumar got the order and went near Agarwala hospital where the address was mentioned.

As soon as Tilak Kumar reached, Krishna and others abused him in foul language for delaying and started beating him when he objected. “They started kicking and punching, and even broke my fingers before snatching the food packets and escaped,” Tilak Kumar said in his complaint.

The police said Krishna and his associates are working in a private firm and did not want to pay for the food and assaulted him on the pretext of getting the food late in order to take it away for free.
