From Monday, Bhagavataru, a Bengaluru-based cultural organisation, will hold Ranga Roopotsava, a five-day theatre festival, in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture, at Ravindra Kalakshetra.
The cultural group has been organising various programme connected to theatre, music, literature and art from the past 14 years, besides identifying and honouring those work behind the screens, especially theatre technicians.
Ranga Roopotsava is being organised to mark the 15th year of Bhagavataru, and for the first time, plays based on the works of saint-poet Kanakadasa, Adi Kavi Pampa, K. Shivaram Karanth, K.P. Purnachandra Tejaswi and P. Lankesh, all directed by KSDL Chandru, will be staged.
Seminar
A seminar on the tradition of theatre adaptation of literature in Kannada has also been organised. Theatre personalities, including, H.S. Umesh, Nataraj Honnavalli and C. Basavalingaiah, director of the National School of Drama, Bengaluru chapter, will participate. Theatre and film director B. Suresh will inaugurate the festival.
