Father, son killed in accident on Avalahalli flyover

Their two-wheeler was knocked down by a car

A 41-year-old man and his 12-year-old son, who was riding pillion, died on the spot when their two-wheeler was allegedly knocked down by a car on the Avalahalli flyover on the highway from K.R. Puram towards Hosakote on Monday morning.

Due to the impact, Brahmananda Reddy, who was riding the bike, was thrown from the down ramp of the flyover to the service road while his son Mouna Saireddy was crushed between the parapet wall of the flyover and the car, police said.

Brahmananda was taking his son, who had a headache, to a hospital in Hosakote. They were residents of Medehalli. Brahmananda was in the business of transportation of construction materials, police added.

The accident occurred around 10.45 a.m. The driver of the car fled from the spot.

The police said that the victims were not wearing helmets. Both suffered fatal head injuries.

The bodies were shifted to a private hospital for post-mortem. The Avalahalli police have registered a case of accidental deaths due to rash and negligent driving, and are searching for the driver of the car.

Container overturns on Yeshwantpur flyover

Passengers travelling in an SUV had a narrow escape when a goods vehicle overturned turtle on the busy Yeshwantpur flyover on Monday afternoon.

Traffic movement was disrupted for some time. Traffic police rushed to the spot and pulled the truck to the side to allow movement of other vehicles.

The driver of the container suffered injuries and was admitted to a hospital.

According to the police, the container was heading from Malleswaram towards Yeshwantpur when the driver failed to notice the curve. To avoid a collision, he applied the brakes, but lost control of the vehicle, which overturned, police said.

The SUV was passing by at the time of the accident, police said quoting a witness.

The police have booked a case of rash and negligent against the driver, and are waiting for his recovery to question him.
