The Cubbon Park police have arrested a 35-year-old retired army man on the charge of stalking and taking photos of a 19-year-old woman at the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) office on Thursday.

The man, Senthil Kumar, is a resident of Ramachandra Puram. He had taken VRS from the army in July last year after serving as a gunner.

According to the complaint, the woman is an intern with a national television news channel. She had gone to the KSPCB office on Church Street along with a senior colleague to interview an official of the Lake Development Authority.

Around 4 p.m. while the reporting crew was in the waiting area near the reception, she noticed a man taking photographs of her on his cellphone.

She informed her colleagues who confronted the man, snatched his phone and found that he had indeed taken her photos without permission.

Senthil claimed to be a journalist with a Tamil daily.

The woman and her colleagues lodged a complaint with the police. Senthil was booked under Section 509 (outraging the modesty) of the IPC and remanded in judicial custody.
