The Indiranagar police have registered a case against a city-based software engineer for allegedly duping a Dubai-based tech company of ₹7.5 crore by forging purchase invoices.
The accused, Abhilash Rao M., was working as joint director for the tech company owned by Nabil Lahir.
According to the complaint, Mr. Nabil had floated Zen Technologies in Dubai in 2014 and also launched Zen Edu Services where he appointed his friend, Abhilash, as joint director and gave him a 5% share in the company.
The complaint stated that between 2014 and 2018, Abhilash misappropriated ₹7.5 crore on the pretext of purchasing software for the company. He had created fake invoices and diverted the cash to his account, the complaint said.
The cheating came to light during an audit following which a complaint was filed with the Indiranagar police.
