The Indiranagar police on Tuesday arrested two persons on the charges of cheating a youth on the pretext of providing escort service.

The accused, Shivaswamy (27) and Yesudas, (33) along with their associate Ajay, had placed an advertisement on a website about running a escort service.

Naveen, a private firm employee and resident of Doddabele, who approached the accused seeking the service was asked to come to 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar on June 13.

The accused took Naveen to a residential apartment and after taking ₹ 10,000 from him asked him to go to the second floor. However, Naveen found that a family was living there. He realised that he had been cheated. When he rushed downstairs, he found the accused had left. He tried calling them, but their mobile was also switched off.

Naveen later went to the police and filed a cheating compliant. Based on it, the police arrested Shivaswamy and Yesudas and efforts are on to track down Ajay.

Police suspect that the duo had cheated many who failed to file a complaint fearing social stigma.
