Drive against vehicles overloading children

The Bengaluru Traffic Police, on Monday conducted a special drive against school buses and other vehicles and booked 4,446 cases against drivers for carrying more than the prescribed number of children. Vehicles with no insurance and proper documents were booked, and owners were slapped notices to appear in court to pay fines.

Based on several complaints received by commuters regarding school vans and buses carrying excess children and violating traffic rules, the police conducted a special drive on Monday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. in east and west traffic division. The east division has booked 3,264 cases and the west division booked 1,182 cases.

A senior traffic officer said that the drive was mainly conducted to spread awareness among the drivers.
