Metro train services were disrupted on Wednesday between 5.30 a.m. and 8.45 a.m. to facilitate maintenance work at Trinity Station. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at stations on the Purple Line as BMRCL could not operate trains as per normal schedules.
An official said that during a routine inspection officials found a honeycomb formation on a beam near the station and it was decided to operate services on single line between Trinity and Halasuru to carry out the maintenance work.
“We could not operate trains as per the normal schedules as the train from Baiyappanahalli to Mysuru Road station could not reach in time. At around 8.45 it was possible to run trains on both the lines between the two stations. There were delays in operations and at around 10.30 a.m. we managed to clear the rush by operating adequate number of trains,” said the official.
In a press release the BMRCL stated that the affected portion is very small and will not affect overall safety of the structure.
