As many as 60 Bangladeshi nationals, who are allegedly staying illegally and were detained by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on October 26, will be deported to their country in a week’s time, said officials.
Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), said that all the detainees, including 29 men, 22 women and nine children who were picked up from slums in Ramamurthy Nagar, Bellandur and Marathahalli on Saturday, would be deported to their country as they have already written to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to start the deportation process. He said things would likely take a week’s time. The detained are presently housed in a government shelter and will be there till the deportation process is completed.
The CCB also arrested Mohibulla, Fairoj Khan, Masud and Jamal, who had allegedly brought these Bangaladeshis to the country on the promise of jobs.
The detainees told the police that the accused had brought them to Bengaluru through the porous Indo-Bangladesh border via West Bengal, without any passport and visa, and pushed them into ragpicking and domestic work. The FRRO is working to deport them with the help of the BSF, who will hand them over to the Bangaldeshi authorities, officials said.
