A 56-year-old man killed his wife in front of the children in their house in Indiranagar on Thursday night after she refused to give him divorce. The accused Mailaraiah, a lecturer in a private college in KGF, surrendered before the police and handed over the machete he used to slit the throat of Manjula, his 45-year-old wife.

According to the police, the couple were living in Indiranagar 14th Cross. But, they were having a marital discord for a few years. Mailaraiah allegedly suspected the character of his wife. On Thursday night when Manjula returned home from a club, the accused had a heated argument with her. He questioned her about going to the club without informing him. Angry she asked for a divorce.

In a fit of rage, Mailaraiah slit her throat in front of the children.

The children in an attempt to stop their father from escaping beat him up, but he managed to flee. The husband later surrendered before the Indiranagar police along with the weapon.

Meanwhile, the children with the help of neighbours rushed Manjula to a near-by hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
