Bengaluru: A woman, believed to be in her mid-twenties, was found murdered in a house in Ejipura on Wednesday afternoon. According to the police, Venkatesh, the house owner, who lives in nearby, sensed foul smell coming from the house and alerted the police. When the police opened the door with the help of Venkatesh, they found the smell emanating from the bedroom.

Beneath the cot, they found the body of a woman, with her throat slit with a sharp weapon. “A woman was living in this house and a friend of hers joined five days ago. The murder is suspected to have taken place three days ago as the body is in decomposed state,” said a senior police officer.

Neighbours claim that the victim was Priya from Tamil Nadu. “However, the identity is yet been confirmed. We have only got some phone numbers as of now. Her room mate is missing and we are trying to trace her too,” said a police officer attached to Viveknagar police station.

Sniffer dogs and forensic experts were pressed into service to collect clues. Police are checking if it is a murder for gain or whether it took place over some personal reason.
