February 03, 2016 06:17 pm | Updated 06:17 pm IST - Bengaluru

Traffic on the busy Sheshadri Road was disrupted for sometime when over 5,000 Dalit students tried to barge towards Vidhana Soudha from Freedom Park demanding better facility for them.

The protesters from Mysore and other parts of the State landed at Majestic before marching towards Freedom Park where they were supposed to stage a protest. The protesters demanded job reservation in private companies and hike in their food remuneration from Rs. 38 to Rs. 100.

Tension prevailed when protesters tried to move towards Vidhana Soudha through the barricades to meet the Chief Minister. The police managed to contain them and resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

The traffic police managed the situation by diverting traffic to adjacent roads.
