Cyclist run over by BMTC bus

A 35-year-old cyclist was killed on the spot when speeding BMTC bus knocked him down on NTTF road in Peenya in the early hours of Wednesday. The deceased, Ravi, a resident of Nelagadaranahalli and working in a private factory, was on his way to work .

Passers-by soon gathered at the spot and staged a protest with the body, demanding the BMTC officials to come to the spot. The Peenya traffic police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd before shifting the body for post-mortem.

The police arrested the driver and seized the bus for further investigations.

Vegetable vendor killed

A 57-year-old vegetable vendor was killed on the spot when a BMTC bus knocked him down on Lakkasandra main road on Wednesday morning.

Venkataramanachari was walking towards NIMHANS hospital for treatment when the bus coming from Dairy Circle towards Wilson Garden knocked him down while he was trying to cross the road.

Passers-by rushed to his help and shifted him to the hospital where the doctors declared him as brought dead.

The Wilson Garden police have taken up a case and are investigating.
