A constable attached to Jayanagar police station was suspended for writing a sarcastic reply to a show cause notice issued by his senior on his consistent tardiness. He also put it up on social media where it went viral.

On April 11, the inspector issued a notice to five personnel, including Sridhar Gowda, for frequently reporting late to work. He sought an explanation within three days. Sridhar replied that unlike his seniors, he did not eat three times in hotels. He had aged parents and a family to look after. He also wrote that if he had the same lifestyle as his seniors, he would be able to report to work half-an-hour early every day.

DCP South Annamalai suspended Sridhar for indiscipline and ordered a probe. “The letter has gone viral and is causing a lot of embarrassment to the department,” a senior police officer said.
