Cool in the face of heat

May 17, 2011 12:51 pm | Updated 12:51 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The Racecourse residence of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa was a beehive of political activity on Monday after Governor H.R. Bhardwaj sent a report appraising the Centre on the political situation in the State.

Party leaders, MLAs, MLCs and national leaders arrived at his residence from morning to discuss the future course of action. Though disturbed by the sudden development, Mr. Yeddyurappa was able to hide his feelings. He was unusually calm and invited each leader with a smile.

Elaborate arrangements were made to make the party leaders and legislators comfortable. Legislators were seen discussing developments in hushed tones in groups.

After party State president K.S. Eshwarappa arrived, legislators were seen asking him about the possible fallout of the Governor's report to the Centre. Later they were briefed about their travel arrangements to New Delhi.

A senior leader told The Hindu that Mr. Yeddyurappa was looking quite confident of tiding over the crisis in view of the support of 121 of 225 MLAs and the support of the national leaders.
