A 48-year-old convict, who was serving a life imprisonment, was found dead at the Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara, on Wednesday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as V. Manjunath, a resident of Nelamangala.

He was arrested 10 years ago and convicted of rape and murder. He was in charge of serving food to inmates and the cleaning section. Manjunath’s conduct was good, but since prisoners who were convicted of rape and murder cannot be released under the good conduct provision, he was serving his full conviction. He was depressed because of this, said prison officials.
