Committee to strengthen poles

June 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - Bengaluru:

With many electricity poles being uprooted during the pre-monsoon rain in the city, Bescom has formed a technical innovation committee to devise ways to strengthen existing poles without increasing the cost.

One of the recommendations made by the committee is to install only pre-stressed concrete (PSC) poles instead of the reinforced cement concrete (RCC) ones.

This comes due to allegations from some quarters of poles being of poor quality. Bescom has also mechanised the process of re-erecting electricity poles.
