Coming soon: snow in Bengaluru

It will be the highlight of a theme park proposed by the Tourism Department

There will be no dearth of entertainment in Bengaluru, if the State government executes its plan to construct three theme parks in the city.

Of the three theme parks proposed, one will be a snow park to fill what the Tourism Department claims is the only missing ingredient in the State’s tourist attractions.

The theme parks will be built on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model by the Tourism Department, as part of a larger list of 11 projects planned for the State.

Also on the cards are a theme park, modelled on the lines of Disneyland, while another will be based on Lego.

Profiles announced

The project profiles were announced at the ongoing Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart.

The total cost of the theme parks is estimated to be about Rs. 193 crore, while all the 11 projects are expected to cost around Rs. 708 crore. Once completed, these parks are expected to attract domestic and international tourists.

The snow park will come up in an area of 20,000 square feet and it will also have a retail centre and a family entertainment centre, officials said.

Cable car

Also on the anvil is cable car tourism at some places, including Chamundi Hills, Nandi Hills, Kemmanagundi and Madhugiri, at an estimated cost of Rs. 80 crore.

On day two of the event, around 30 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) totalling Rs. 1,800 crore were signed.
