Bengaluru records hottest Feb. day in 10 years

If the fag end of the ‘winter season’ is to be any indication, the coming summer is bound to be brutal.

With the maximum temperature touching 35.5 degrees Celsius — or 4 degrees above ‘normal’ — on Monday, the city saw its hottest day for the month of February in over 10 years.

The all-time record for February, as calculated by the India Meteorological Department through the past century, is 35.9 degrees C recorded in 2005.

IMD officials expect it to get hotter in the coming days. The rise could be drastic, with mercury levels rising by 1 degree Celsius between Sunday and Monday.

There is very little relief at night, with the minimum temperatures also having jumped by 3 degrees above average to 21 degrees Celsius.
