Churches gear up for Christmas celebrations

December 24, 2012 08:30 am | Updated 08:30 am IST - BANGALORE:

Across the city, churches are gearing up for Christmas. Lights are being strung out, choirs practising carols and skits are being readied.

The more prominent churches have put up their schedules, and at many places, celebrations began over the weekend.

At the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church here celebrations began last week with a nativity play and a carol singing show. Students from the church’s Sunday school participated in all these programmes.

“I must say the show was one I will not forget easily. This is an age-old tradition, something Christians look forward to the whole year. The crowds were bigger and more excited this year,” said Rev. Rodricks from the Lutheran Church.

John D’Souza, a volunteer at the Christa Prabhalaya Church in Jayanagar, gushed about the upcoming celebrations.

“Working for Christmas is always fun and we are working very hard to make this a wonderful Christmas for everyone,” he said.

He added that pastors and members of the church have been spending all night carolling or attending prayers across the city.
