A delegation of Citizens for Bengaluru (CfB), at the forefront of the #ElevatedCorridorBeda campaign, met Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara on Wednesday to express their concern that the project would do little to solve the city’s traffic problems.

“We shared information on vehicular data and the urgent need to increase modal share of public transport to 80%. As reinforced by the current C40 conference, we requested that massive investment be made in suburban rail, buses and metro, along with pedestrianisation as viable and sustainable solutions to Bengaluru’s traffic congestion,” a statement from CfB read.

Dr. Parameshwara reportedly assured the delegation that the project will be implemented only after widespread public consultations and assessing mobility solutions.

CfB plans to hold a public seminar shortly on sustainable mobility solutions for Bengaluru, presided over by senior government functionaries. On Wednesday, Dr. Ashish Verma of IISc. presented various sustainable transport options for the city.
