Techie arrested 15 years after the murder of his wife

The Central Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a senior manager of a multinational IT company who was on the run for 15 years after allegedly killing his wife in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in 2003.

“The suspect, Tarun Jinraj, was working in the company under a fake name ‘Praveen Batle’ and used to take night shifts to keep a low profile,” said a senior police officer. He was tracked down by the CCB who were tipped off by their counterparts in Ahmedabad.

The police suspect Tarun of killing his wife Sajni, 26, with the help of his relatives. “He had claimed that Sajni was killed in their house by burglars,” the officer added.

The Ahmedabad police had arrested Tarun along with his relatives. After spending a few months in prison, Tarun came out on bail and disappeared. He came to Bengaluru two years ago and got a job as a senior software engineer, said the police who are trying to find out where he was in the intervening years.

The Ahmedabad police, who were on the lookout for Tarun, had been keeping tabs on his relatives. Once they learnt that he was in Bengaluru, they reached out to the CCB. Tarun was arrested and handed over to the Ahmedabad police for further investigation, a senior police officer said.
