The Yeshwantpura police have booked a case against five students for harassing a national-level swimmer in Mattikere on Saturday.

Police have identified the accused as students studying in a reputed college. Two of them are Journalism students while two are Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) students and one Engineering student.

According to the police, the victim was returning home from a party when the accused, who were having a birthday party, passed lewd comments and harassed her. The victim immediately called the police who rushed to the spot and detained the accused.

Since the victim refused to file a case, the accused were let off with a warning but their car was seized.

However, on Sunday the police rushed to the victim’s house to take her statement when the matter snowballed into a controversy. The victim had posted the incident on social networking website.

A case has been booked against the accused under Karnataka Police Act.
