Campaign against closure of hospital

June 02, 2011 11:55 am | Updated 11:55 am IST - Bangalore:

Protesting against the closure of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) Srirmapuram Referral Hospital, members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have launched a signature campaign in Srirampuram.

The hospital that catered to the healthcare needs of residents of Srirampuram, Okalipuram and surrounding areas was closed almost two years ago as the hospital building was in a dilapidated condition.

BBMP Engineer-in-Chief B.T. Ramesh said the civic body had proposed to demolish the building and construct a new one. “The file is being processed. As the project is worth nearly Rs 10 crore, we have to take the approval of the BBMP Standing Committee before getting the Government's nod,” he said.
