Businessman says he owns the land

January 05, 2015 01:28 am | Updated 01:28 am IST - Bengaluru:

Businessman K.G. Chandrashekhar Bhat, a resident of RMV Extension, has also claimed ownership of the 1.1 acre of land of Survey no. 2, Rajamahal village. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council has taken a resolution to allot it to Janata Dal (Secular).

Chandrashekhar Bhat told The Hindu that the land was granted to his mother H.K. Subbalakshmi by Jayachamarajendra Wadeyar in September 1954 through an umble (Inam) deed. Mr. Bhat claimed that H.N. Pallegar, then secretary to late Maharaja had signed on behalf of the former maharaja in the registration deed.

H.K. Subbalakshmi had applied for a BBMP khata in 2004 following which BBMP sought information from Bangalore Development Authority whether the land was acquired. City Survey Department later did a joint survey of the land and submitted the report to BBMP, claims Mr. Bhat. However, Mr. Bhat’s claims have also been challenged by the Wadiyar family, confirmed their counsel C.K. Venkatesh.
