BJP urges CM to sack his media adviser

October 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - BENGALURU:

The BJP on Thursday demanded sacking of the Chief Minister’s media adviser Dinesh Amin Mattu for participating in a protest held in the city against the recent lynching and subsequent death of a man in Dadri Uttar Pradesh on the suspicion of eating beef.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, BJP spokesperson and MLA C.T. Ravi condemned Mr. Mattu’s participation in the protest organised by several civil society groups and activists on Wednesday. He termed his participation as “illegal and against the spirit of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 1964.” Mr. Ravi also criticised the government’s decision to scrap the Goseva Ayoga.

‘I am within my rights’

Mr. Mattu, however, said his participation in the protest was perfectly legitimate. “I have not spoken or done anything against the spirit of the Constitution of India. Moreover, contrary to what is alleged, I am not a government functionary,” he said.
