Close on the heels of the Congress managing to get the support of JD(S) to stake claim over the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to stage protests against “the backdoor access to power by the Congress after it failed to get the people’s mandate”.
As per the plan, the BJP’s Bengaluru city unit comprising legislators, councillors-elect and office-bearers will launch a five-day protest on Friday. They will stage a demonstration in front of Town Hall on Friday, and the next day they will take out a rally to Raj Bhavan.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the party’s city leaders and councillors-elect presided by the former Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok here on Thursday.
Interestingly, the BJP has desisted from passing any negative comment against JD(S) though it did not accept the BJP’s invitation to forge an alliance. It is also being said that BJP has instructed its cadres not to comment on JD(S) during the protest as part of its political strategy.
Meanwhile, BJP Yuva Morcha threatened to stage a protest against the alleged “subversion of democracy” when the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor take oath.
Yuva Morcha State president Muniraju Gowda threatened to prevent the ‘Congress Mayor’ from taking oath.
“The Yuva Morcha workers will protest against the Congress Mayor on the BBMP premises,” he said.
