Biodiversity Marathon to be held on November 1

October 28, 2017 11:38 pm | Updated 11:38 pm IST - Bengaluru

Butterflies, birds, reptiles and trees ... what role do they play in sustaining our biodiversity. To spread awareness on the subject, Biodiversity Marathon will be held on November 1 by the National Centre for Biological Science in association with the Green Army Club of Christ University and Indian Foundation for Butterflies. It’s a marathon, one that doesn’t involve running, but data collection to generate biodiversity-related information involving scientists, naturalists, and citizen scientists.

“Participants will gather at J.P. Nagar Reserve Forest at 9 a.m. and walk around to watch and photograph butterflies, plants, birds, and other species, after which the group will go to Christ University where an introduction will be given to the citizen science project.

Participants will then be divided into four groups where experts on butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, and cicadas will help them upload the images and data on websites.
