BDA homes for poor families

May 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:31 am IST - BENGALURU:

There is a proposal to give houses built by the Bangalore Development Authorities (BDA) free of cost to poor families whose houses were completely demolished by the Bengaluru Urban district administration.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who is also in-charge Minister for Bengaluru, told presspersons on Thursday that the proposal is before Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who holds the BDA portfolio. Deputy Commissioner V Shanker has been asked to submit a list of families whose houses were demolished. Families whose houses were partially demolished will not be eligible for free BDA houses, Mr Reddy said.

The Minister said the Legislature Committee on Encroachment of Lake Beds is also likely to recommend compensation for families.
