January 07, 2015 12:19 am | Updated 12:19 am IST - Bengaluru:

The BBMP Worker’s Association has demanded an end to the system of deputing officials from other departments to the civic body. At a meeting with Bengaluru city in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy on Tuesday, the association claimed that the corporation pays Rs. 28 crore as salary cumulatively to deputed officials while the salary burden of BBMP officials is just Rs. 22 crore.

Instead, they demanded that BBMP workers be promoted to fill vacancies in higher-level positions.

Among their 30-point list of demands was filling of nearly 6,000 vacancies at various levels.

Mr. Reddy assured that the State government will take steps to fulfil the demands.
