The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has seized a bar and restaurant on 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar and issued notice to the building owner for alleged violations of certain provisions of the Karnataka Municipal Corporations (KMC) Act.

The Joint Commissioner of BBMP’s East Zone filed an affidavit before a Division Bench during the hearing of a PIL petition filed in 2017 by Raj Kumar Pillai, a resident of Indiranagar 2nd Stage.

The BBMP carried out a surprise inspection on Trippler Bar and Restaurant on July 3 following a direction from the court and found certain violations of the KMC Act in construction of the building.

After issuing preliminary notices, under Section 321(1) and (2) of the KMC Act, to the building owner on July 6 for the alleged illegal constructions, the bar and restaurant was seized on July 12, it has been stated in the affidavit while pointing out that suitable action as per the Act would be initiated against the building owner. The Bench adjourned further hearing till August 13 asking the BBMP to submit the action taken report.
