Ahead of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits to the city on Tuesday, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) scrambled to fix roads in the city.

Senior officials took out an inspection of the city on Sunday and identified areas which needed to be touched up. Roads were repaired and in many cases, hoardings removed.

“Our officers have been sweating it out to prepare the roads in time. Usually we get 15 days to improve the roads, but this time, we got only 3-4 days notice,” an official said.
