BBMP closes 6 eateries in Indiranagar

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) raided six restaurants and coffee shops in Indiranagar and closed them down after imposing a fine for improper disposal of garbage on Tuesday.

Costa Coffee, a coffee shop, had disposed of soft drink bottles in front of the shop without a proper dustbin. Officials also found that the garbage was being given to a private firm, while the coffee shop had an agreement with another firm. They were fined Rs. 2 lakh.

Mother Cluckers, Konark Restaurant, Topaz bar and restaurant, What the F? bar and restaurant, and Tadka Kabab were also closed down and fined for not producing their trade licence and improper disposal of garbage. The Health Officer ordered suspension of trade licence of Nandini Restaurant after the kitchen was found unhygienic.

BBMP Administrator T.M. Vijay Bhaskar paid a surprise visit to the mustering units in Jayanagar, BTM Layout and Jnanabharathi and suspended a senior health officer, Obalesh, of Jayanagar division for improper disposal of garbage in the area.

He also imposed fine on Krishna Juice Centre, Udupi Garden, Preeti Bakery, Mahalakshmi Showroom and Coffee Bite hotel for improper disposal of garbage.
